Sarah is the first of the Jewish matriarchs.

Originally, her name was Sarai. She married Abraham and their son was Isaac. In the Torah, her death (at age 127) is reported right after the story of the binding of Isaac. Her handmaiden was Hagar, the mother of Ishmael.

Sarah and Abraham were known for their generosity and hospitality.
